Welcome to Ray Thompson's Upstate Karate Martial Arts Center, serving the upstate since 1983. Our Black Belt Martial Arts School is dedicated to helping our students develop confidence through self-defense skills. 

Our modern teaching techniques focus on the nature and structure of conflicts, and how we can resolve them peacefully.  Safety is always our greatest concern.  We have a genuine interest in our student's progress and development.  Our staff is willing to go the extra mile for you!

Our qualified instructors are energetic and outgoing.  They have a sincere interest in your self-improvement, and in helping you reach your goals.  With seven different Martial Arts styles to choose from, we have something for everyone.  Upstate Karate is currently ranked as one of the top 25 Martial Arts Schools in all of America, Canada, Great Britain, and Australia.     

Our facility is approximately 12,000 square feet and provides showers, dressing rooms, and a TV/Video area for the entertainment of children not attending classes.  The school is equipped with high quality mats for the comfort and safety of our students plus training mirrors to aid in their progress.

We are also equipped with a regulation kickboxing ring for sparring and promoted events.  In the training area, there are many different hanging bags for the students to workout with as they strive to improve their skills.
