The "Wonderboy" recognized by

S.C. State House of Representatives and the S.C. State Senate!

On Wednesday, January 14th, 2004 , Stephen “Wonderboy” Thompson was brought before the S.C. State House of Representatives by Representative Garry Smith to recognize Stephen for his accomplishments in the Martial Arts in particular the sport on kickboxing. Stephen was also recognized in the Senate by state Senator David Thomas.

Stephen's kickboxing career started long before he realized he had the talent to compete in the sport. Trained by his father since the age of 3, Stephen has developed the skills to become one of the best in the world of amateur kickboxing. He is the holder of 4 WORLD kickboxing titles and numerous other Regional, National and North American titles. Stephen has an undefeated record in the sport of full contact kickboxing of 33 wins, no losses and 18 wins coming by the knock out. His plans are to compete once more as an amateur and then step into the professional ranks later in 2004 and see if he can accomplish the same goals as a professional.

Stephen was also recognized for his assistance in the reading programs in the various elementary schools in the Simpsonville, Fountain Inn and Mauldin , South Carolina area. He has also volunteered his services to the schools by teaching free martial arts classes to A and AB Honor Roll students. He graduated from Hillcrest High School and has plans to continue his education in the area of business so he will be better prepared to manage the family business which is a Martial Arts School. He is a full time employee of Upstate Karate Family Martial Arts Center which is located in Simpsonville , S.C.  Stephen likes to encourage his students to train hard, set goals, and stay focused. He says if you do these three things you WILL be a success.
